Julian House is a graphic designer, musician, film maker and artist but is perhaps best known for his album cover designs. His recent move into exhibiting prints, films and artworks is a natural progression and compliments a considerable portfolio.
His is a largely collage-based designer and artist, and draws heavily on record sleeve design and comic books, with an acknowledged pulp influence - in House's own words, "the 'pulp' end of things which still informs me today, as much as classic design… Strange old vinyl LPs, paperback books, found ephemera…" He names many artists across many disciplines as influences, ranging from Peter Saville, Saul Bass and Max Ernst to William S. Burroughs, Byron Gysin, H.P. Lovecraft and Lewis Carroll.
